ECP collaborates with Meta, Facebook to boost marginalized group participation in elections

ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) convened a consultative meeting with representatives from Meta and Facebook to discuss strategies aimed at increasing awareness regarding the participation of marginalized groups in electoral processes.

The Meta and Facebook team showcased four informative videos addressing topics such as election bullying, misinformation/disinformation, and media literacy in the context of electoral processes.

They also stressed the importance of generating widespread awareness regarding the participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, transgender individuals, and other marginalized groups in elections.

Both organizations engaged in fruitful discussions, which included the translation of Facebook community standards into Urdu and regional languages as a means to tackle societal polarization.
