DC orders crackdown on dengue as cases climb to 23


ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (APP): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon has called for strict enforcement of anti-dengue measures across the Federal Capital as five new dengue cases have emerged l pushing the total count for the year to 23.
In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner has chaired a review meeting to assess the ongoing anti-dengue campaign.
During the meeting, all assistant commissioners provided updates on the situation in their respective areas.
The latest data revealed, that five new dengue cases in the past week raising concerns as the total number of cases in the city this year reached 23.
Breaking down the numbers, Kural reported the highest with eight cases, followed by three in Sohan, and two in Barakahu.
Other areas with reported cases include F-7 with two, and F-6, E-11, G-7, Sihala, Rawat, H-13, Alipur and Tarnol, each reporting one case.
The meeting also included a review of last year’s dengue statistics. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for the strict implementation of anti-dengue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
He urged the authorities to take action against any assistant commissioners who fail to enforce these measures.
The DC made a strong appeal for the urban dengue SOPs to be implemented without compromise, stressing that these actions are crucial in preventing further spread of the virus.
